PPS milling
PPS milling
Milling is one of the activities in which SPN specializes. The operation is dedicated to parts that do not have an axis of revolution. Milling consists of holding a blank in a vice on a milling table or a fixture, a rotating and cutting tool then removes the material. This technique thus makes it possible to obtain dimensions in accordance with the customer’s request. All plastics can be milled. SPN also carries out two types of milling, namely conventional milling for simple parts and 5-axis CNC milling for more complex parts on different plastic materials. The company also carries out PPS milling.
PPS or polyphenylene sulphide is a semi-crystalline material that can be used as an alternative to thermosetting plastics and metals. It has the ability to preserve its mechanical characteristics even at high temperatures, up to 270°C. It is rigid and resistant to creep. This material is inert even at cryogenic temperatures. This polymer is insoluble and has perfect chemical resistance. Moreover, it absorbs very little moisture. An excellent thermal insulator, this plastic component has electrical properties and good dimensional stability.
Poly-phenylene sulfide is widely used in the manufacture of electrical or electronic components such as coils, plugs, multipoint connectors and relays. It is also used in the medical sector for the design of surgical instruments. It is also used in the manufacture of sockets, valves, pump bodies, etc.
