PTFE Material

PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) is a fluoropolymer with remarkable properties, often referred to by the name Teflon (Chemour brand). We at DEMGY SPN, formerly Ulmer Aéronautique, were the first French company to process PTFE for the production of masks for fighter pilots. Since then, we have continued to develop our know-how in the transformation and processing of PTFE.

PTFE is mainly used for the following properties:
– Good chemical resistance
– Low coefficient of friction
– Resistance to moisture and aging
– Insensitivity to UV
– Non-toxic
– Wide temperature range (from -80 ° C to 250 ° C)
– Non-combustible

All of its properties make PFTE a material widely used in many applications, including chemical, aerospace, medical, energy, or as a non-stick coating in kitchen ranges. Some properties of PTFE can be further improved by adding other components (such as glass fiber, graphite, bronze, etc.). This kind of PTFE is usually called loaded PTFE (PTFE compound). At DEMGY SPN, we specialize in the production of semi-finished products (rods, tubes or sheets) made of natural or filled PTFE according to customer specifications, as well as the machining of PTFE components.

Common trade names: Teflon® from Chemours, TF® and TFM® from Dyneon, Algoflon® from Solvay.
