PVDF properties
PVDF is one of the high performance plastic materials used by SPN. Its remarkable properties give it a very wide range of applications. Also known under the trade names Kynar®, Solef® or Dyneon®, discover below the exceptional properties of PVDF.
The remarkable properties of polyvinylidene fluoride or PVDF
PVDF is one of the most widely used plastic materials in the chemical industry because this thermoplastic polymer is highly inert and extremely resistant. In addition, its semi-crystalline appearance is highly appreciated. PVDF has a very high chemical resistance and stability. It is the ideal material for industries that use, for example, chemical agents such as mineral bases, acids, aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons, alcohols and chlorinated and halogenated solvents. On the other hand, polyvinylidene fluoride remains sensitive to some strongly basic solutions, including ketones and esters.
PVDF is also very resistant to radiation and U.V. It is also gas-tight and has excellent non-stick properties. PVDF has good mechanical properties: it is a material that is highly resistant to abrasion. It has good resistance to aging. Finally, PVDF resists well to high temperature. Its performance remains impeccable in a temperature range from -20°C to 130°C. But this resistance to extreme temperatures can go up to 175 °C.
PVDF, a material with multiple applications
PVDF is used in many different areas, including the chemical industry and the medical sector. PVDF can be used to manufacture many high-performance parts and accessories, including tanks and piping for the chemical industry. But the material is also a perfect insulator and can be used as an excellent protective barrier. It is also used in the electronics industry to insulate wires and even piezoelectric elements.
But the possibilities are numerous, especially if you entrust the manufacture of your parts to SPN. We have several techniques to transform PVDF. These techniques allow us to process this material to meet all your needs, no matter how specific. Among others, SPN uses molding, but also extrusion and compression. For the machining of semi-finished products, we use various methods, including turning, milling and cutting. Our workshops are equipped with high-tech digital equipment to ensure that your work is carried out in accordance with your specifications.
In addition to standard size parts, SPN can produce 100% custom and unique parts for you. To produce specific parts, our team uses a computer-assisted manufacturing process. We base our work on customer 3D files. Depending on the technical specifications of the products and their complexity, our experts choose the most suitable manufacturing process.
